Priory Farm lies on the Lower Greensand on the Southern slopes of the North Downs and was, until 1992, a traditional working farm.
Today the Farm is a multi-site retail and leisure operation covering some 180 acres with an award winning Farm Shop, an extensive Plant Centre and three Fishing Lakes. There is also a Coffee Shop with an enclosed outdoor Children's Play Area. Thousands of visitors, including many family parties, come to Priory Farm each year, all attracted by the beautiful scenery and far-reaching views.
The stewardship of the land is as important today as ever it was when Priory Farm was a major supplier to the food industry and its owners, the Shinner family, have seen their conservation efforts rewarded with a string of awards and accreditations, the most recent being the strongly contested 'Grower Retailer of the Year 2001'. Nic Shinner believes that the success the Farm has had in this field is a reflection of the effort put in, as he says; "It's not just a matter of experience, it's all about a respect for the land which, in our case has been built up over the nearly half-century that the family has lived here". |
